The response time from turn to turn felt effortless and seem to gain speed on rail. The Flat Earth, a collaboration between Kelly Slater and Akila Aipa, looks like a very fun surfboard. This board has incredible speed, projection, drive, and flow to maximize performance surfing in small waves. The Akila Fiberglass Twin, designed by Hawaiian shaper Akila Aipa, redefines the classic theory of the twin-fin design and transforms it into a more high-performance mindset. Akila calls it “trimming the fat” meaning no unnecessary foam to hinder performance with swing weight. Designed by Akila Aipa, son of Hawaiian legend Ben Aipa, this twin fin template was developed to complement the design of his unique board templates, focussed. The outline, tail design, and foil shape make this board unique. This 5’3” Akila Aipa “Fish” is legit! I had a blast on this board and it is unlike anything I’ve surfed before.
